Lispong Terrorista
by Fred Rebdullah
Synopsis
A protrude short in The Mowelfund Film Institute, a political satire, set in
Manila, Philippines at a time of socio-political unrest brought about by a
controversial presidential proclamation mimicking the martial Law nightmare
with articles distressing freedoms of speech and assembly, as attempt to
silence people questioning election irregularities therefore tainting the
presidential victory. This film revolves around a police wife suffering
physical and psychological abuse. After the Presidential Proclamation, the
battered wife lost her sanity. Images of her mundane routines, familiar
landscape and surrounding communities were transformed to resurrect her
personal fears and materialize oppression both domestic and national. During
these tumultuous times, the line insulating the home and its nation becomes
thinner and their parallelism clearer.
