How To Get In The Festival Info

Filed under: Communique - Insider Dispatch @ 4:53 am

Getting to Metro Manila from Other Regions

1> By BUS
There are bus transits from your local terminals providing a destination to Metro Manila. You may choose the rides bound for Cubao, Alabang, Avenida, Espanya and Pasay (it depends with the terminals of bus companies). If you are from the Southern Regions, a bound for Cubao is a good choice for Metro Manila destination, because it is almost near the Festival venue. Try also hitch-hiking.

2> By TRAIN
The Philippine National Railway (PNR) currently operates around 1,060 route km on the island of Luzon. This might be a good choice for adventurous Bicol passengers, most especially for those who would try train hopping.  Trains route is Daraga, Ligao, Naga, Lucena, and Paco, it normally arrived in Tutuban station, Manila’s Grand Central.

3> By PLANE
While the two options above are relatively the most cheapest ride to get into Metro Manila, you may also choose the AirPlane if you have the budget. So far we have four domestic flights, namely, Cebu Pacific, Asian Air, Pacific Air and Philippine Airlines. It normally arrived in Philippine Centenial Airport (Domestic Flight Area) at Pasay, Metro Manila.

Getting to the VENUE

Note: The Festival venue is located inside the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City. The trick here is to take any transportation bound for Quezon City. Jeepney, Bus and MRT is the common transportation once you get in Metro Manila. You may try also Jeepney hopping to get a free fare (just dont be get caught).

1> From CUBAO
If you landed in Cubao by bus, outside its terminal there are dozens of jeepney ride that you may hop in. Choose the ride bound for Fairview and ask the driver to drop you off in Philcoa. From Philcoa, look for the U.P. jeepney terminal, take a ride ask the driver to drop you off at Vinzons Hall. And then, Viola you are already in the Venue. Now, look for waving black flags, because some of us are waiting for you there.

2> From TUTUBAN
If you wonder why you are in Tutuban, it is because you took the train to get inside Metro Manila. Tutuban is a tricky place sometimes confusing, because it’s a public market. To get out from Tutuban, get a jeepney ride for Quiapo, from there you may now hop a jeepney bound for Fairview or Quezon City Hall. If you took the Quezon City Hall destination, the jeepney will drop you off infront the infamous Q.C. Hall, from there look for a U.P. Jeepney and hop in. Ask the driver to drop you off at Vinzons Hall.

3> From PASAY
So, you came in Metro Manila by AirPlane. Here is a simple guide for you to experience land vehicles to get into the Venue. From the terminal, don’t get fooled by taxis because they might charge you an overpriced fare. Be patient to walk outside the terminal and look for some bus rides bound to Fairview or else try a jeepney going to Baclaran/Taft Avenue and take the Metro Rail Transit (MRT). Here is the route:Taft Ave>Magallanes>Ayala>Buendia>Guadalupe>Boni Ave>Shaw Blvd>Ortigas>Santolan>Cubao>GMA Kamuning>Quezon Avenue>North Edsa. Drop off at Quezon Avenue, under the station you may now see Philcoa Jeepnies or U.P. Jeepnies. Choose of course the U.P. Jeepney and ask the driver to drop you off at Vinzons Hall.

ACCOMODATION

There is a temporary autonomous zone to be set-up by Pirativa to accomodate rough travellers from other regions, it is located inside the Quezon City Circle- a public park near U.P. Diliman. Do not forget to bring tents, sleeping bags and other important utensils to survive.
